A4e (originally 'Action for Employment') was established more than two decades ago to help redundant Sheffield steelworkers retrain so that they would find new work in other industries. Today, the organisation operates in more than 200 locations across three continents, working on behalf of governments and official agencies to improve people’s skills and get them back into work.
In 2008, A4e asked CPL to help it come up with a format for a new magazine that could be used to showcase the organisation’s work in time for the autumn round of political party conferences. The resulting magazine – Blueprint – ended up as a lively publication that pulls together examples of global best practice in delivering front-line public services, and brings them alive by telling the stories of real people on both sides of the public/private divide. The quarterly magazine - which we write and design – now circulates to A4e employees as well as to the company’s many stakeholders.
